Make it Groovy also offers workshops in preschools and Primary schools for Yr R and Yr 1 classes.

We provide our craft and dance workshops in preschools and schools for Yr R and Yr 1 classes. Each workshop is based around a story book which is read at the beginning of the sesssion. The children then make a craft and use their craft as a prop in our fun, imaginative movement and dance session. During the workshop we retell the story through dance and movement. We also use other props such as scarfs, Pompoms and musical instruments. Craft materials are provided.

Workshops can be tailored to suit the age group and you can choose the story book or theme you would like to base the session on or I can suggest a selection of our popular books and themes from other classes I have run. Our workshops fit into the framework of the EYFS curriculum and KS1.

Workshops can be booked as a one time event which may tie into your curriculum or used as a fun activity for the children or you can book a series of workshops throughout the year.

We have a range of packages available to suit the size of your classes and if you book more than one workshop you will receive a discount

Here are some examples of books that have been used for workshops however you are welcome to choose any book you wish:

- 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas

- 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle

- 'The Polar Bear and the Snow Cloud' by Jane Cabrera

- 'Dear zoo' by Rod Campbell

- 'Elmer' by David McKee

- 'The Snail and the Whale' by Julia Donaldson

Feedback

The children really enjoyed the dancing element of the workshop and being able to use different equipment as well as their own craft to dance with.

Jenny was engaging and pitched everything to the age of the children and the music used was effective to the topic and discussion of the book.

I loved dancing with my craft, I got to make it move and dance with me!

The workshop was fast paced enough to keep the children on task, the craft and the dancing linked exactly to the book and the topic we have been doing in class.

The children couldn’t wait to take their crafts home and show their parents!
